Services

The office is located at 612 N. Greene St, in an historic building in downtown Greensboro, NC. I provide specialized, comprehensive services to promote wellness for your entire family.  In addition, I offer an integrative, child-centered approach that personalizes counseling to meet your family’s individual needs.

Individual Counseling

Providing counseling to children, in particular, is a collaborative process involving the counselor, the child, and the parent(s)/guardian(s) to achieve the best outcome for the child and the child’s family.  I am committed to providing a supportive and non-judgmental professional partnership that facilitates skill-building, insight, and change. I am trained within a variety of treatment models, such as child-centered play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief counseling, and expressive arts techniques, and will work with you to determine the approach that best fits your needs and the needs of your child. Learn more about the power of play therapy here. Family Support

I support parents and families by providing parent education and developmental guidance, along with creating strategies to use at home to promote positive behavioral change. The counseling process can be shortened through regular parenting consultations. I communicate regularly with parents with updates on your child’s counseling progress. Additionally, I am available to consult with your child’s teachers and other school personnel to implement effective strategies to support social-emotional growth at school. I use a strength-based approach to find solutions to the most challenging of problems. I want to empower, educate, and encourage families to meet their wellness goals.

Parenting Groups

Joining a parenting group is a great way to learn and practice skills that make parenting easier. I utilize tools from Positive Discipline and Child Parent Relationship Training. These methods helps parents build an empathetic relationship with their child, while developing insight into the why behind their child’s behavior. These tools increase children’s cooperation, empathy, and independence. Parents learn ways to intentionally respond to misbehavior instead of reacting emotionally with regrets.
